At 454 Comics & Collectables, every comic is treated individually using a careful multi-step process designed to improve presentation while preserving the integrity of the book.

Comic cleaning and pressing is not an instant process. Achieving the best possible result often requires patience, assessment, and multiple stages depending on the condition, age, paper quality, and defects present.

Our Process May Include:

• Surface cleaning

• Dirt and residue removal

• Reduction of non-colour-breaking creases

• Spot heat treatment using a tack iron for targeted crease work

• Professional pressing using comic-safe materials and equipment

• Cooling and settling time

• Final inspection before grading or return

Moisture & Humidity Treatment

Moisture and humidity treatments are only used in extreme situations where necessary due to the additional risks involved with these techniques. These methods are approached conservatively and only when the potential benefit outweighs the risk to the book.

Important Things to Know

• Cleaning and pressing does not guarantee a grade increase

• Results vary from book to book

• Rushing the process can damage comics or reduce results

• Some books require multiple press cycles for the best possible outcome

Please note:

• Colour-breaking spine ticks will remain visible

• Tears and missing pieces cannot be repaired through pressing

• Stains may remain visible even after treatment
